Hi! My name is Kirby Louise Barker. I was born in Hobart, Tasmania. Although I am only 27, I have done much in my short life. I have two degrees from the University of Tasmania; Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Japanese) and Bachelor of Teaching (Primary). I have worked as an ABA therapist, a model, a cheerleader, a television presenter and a teacher. I have trained in acting, travelled, and self-published my first book, Better Days (2007). I was also recently named the Regatta Ambassador for 2010.

In September 2005, Kirby Barker was involved in a horrific car accident when she fell asleep at the wheel. She sustained major traumas to her face and legs, requiring months of surgery and rehabilitaion. This young Tasmanian woman made the progression from wheelchair to crutches to freedom as she found her feet again. In this inspiring memoir, Kirby shares her challenging path to recovery. She describes how she managed with loving support, to grapple with her deepest fears and summon up the strength of spirit to triumph over personal adversity. Kirby is currently writing a new book - Samuel & I. More info coming soon...
I am a Professional Model, trained through Studio E, Hobart. I have modeled for Studio E, Promotional Sampling, Showcorp, Pixar Promotions, Eyelines, Betfair, Tote, Coles, Ford and Butt Free City.
I have worked alongside Delta Goodrem and Russell Gilbert. I have also volunteered as a cheerleader for the Tasmanian Devils VFL Football Team, as well as managing the squad.
